Finally ! Dog Meat Is Banned From Yulin Festival In China

A big victory for animal fans around the world pet dog meat has actually just been briefly prohibited from the notorious Yulin Festival in China that has already taken the lives of thousands and thousands of innocent dogs.

The restriction will enter result on June 15 that’s one week prior to the start of the festival. It will forbid the sale of canine meat at dining establishments, markets, and street vendors. Those who do not follow will be dealing with a fine of up to 100,000 yuan (almost $15,000) and arrest.

Contrary to common belief, the festival is not some old tradition. It was developed back in 2010 as a method for pet meat traders to make more money. A lot of the pet dogs who are given the celebration are stolen from their owners and still wear collars. The methods where pet dogs (and cats) are eliminated are exceptional in cruelty around the globe.

Andrea Gung, executive director of Duo Animal Well-being Project commented: “Even if this is a temporary ban, we hope this will have a cause and effect, causing the collapse of the dog meat trade.” She added “This restriction is consistent with my experience that Yulin and the rest of the nation is changing for the better.”
